Dr Prodromos A. Kaplanis is the Head of the Medical Physics Department of the State Health Services Organisation since December 2016, and he is a registered Medical Physics and Radiation Protection Expert.

He has graduated from the Higher Technical Institute, and he is a holder of a BSc (Hons), M.Sc. and Ph.D. (Biophysics), as well as an M.Sc. in Health Care Management.

He serves as the current Board President (2021-2023) of the Cyprus Medical Physicists Association and in the past acted as President of the Cyprus Association of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering, the Biomedical Research Foundation, and the Cyprus Medical Physicists Registration Council.

Since 2002 he cooperates closely with the International Atomic Energy Agency and has offered his services and advice to many countries in Europe and Africa.

He is an Adjunct Professor with broad University teaching experience, and he is the author or co-author of 30 articles.

Apart from Medical Physics, he is interested in History, Art, Historical Literature, Music, and
Gymnastics.
